NEW! Inspire Higher Partners with The Freedom Store & Connected Employment for Paid Internship Program.
July 2025
Inspire Higher is thrilled to announce a new partnership with The Peace Haven Freedom Store and Connected Employment to launch an exciting initiative that offers our clients a rare opportunity for a paid internship experience.
This collaboration opens powerful opportunities for our participants to gain hands-on job experience while supporting a mission-driven organization.
The Freedom Store, a Hayward-based nonprofit founded by Shubbie Aishida, operates like a traditional grocery store—with shopping carts, refrigerated items, shelves, and even toiletries—all completely free. Its mission is to provide food, essential services, and meaningful community engagement to individuals and families in need regardless of income or background.
Together, we aim to foster skill-building, empowerment, and inclusion for neurodivergent adults through hands-on learning and community service.
This is just the beginning—stay tuned for more updates on this incredible initiative!

Romeo Hernandez has built an impressively diverse career in the care industry and residential care real estate, drawing upon his extensive experience and expertise to serve a wide range of clients with specialized needs. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University, Romeo went on to put his leadership and management skills to work in a variety of care-focused roles.
He previously owned and operated a group home and child daycare facility, where he dedicated himself to providing compassionate, high-quality support to children and foster teens with developmental disabilities. In this hands-on role, Romeo oversaw all aspects of the care facility's operations, from managing the staff and ensuring regulatory compliance to directly interfacing with clients and their families to assess their needs and coordinate personalized services. Romeo's ability to wear many hats and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic care environment laid the groundwork for his subsequent career path. He later transitioned into a business development manager position for a senior in-home care services company and a residential care facility realtor, leveraging his keen understanding of the care industry to drive new client acquisition and strengthen partnerships with care facilities and administrators.
Throughout his career, Romeo has maintained a strong professional network within the care sector allowing him to keep a finger on the pulse of emerging trends, best practices, and opportunities to expand his impact. Romeo's diverse background, business acumen, and genuine passion for serving individuals with disabilities have coalesced to make him a respected and valuable asset within the care industry.
